Hödlmayr drives emission-free logistics forward

| Technology & Sustainability

Sustainability and cost-effectiveness do not exclude each other. Hödlmayr proves this with the use of one of Europe's rarest all-electric car transporters, which is being tested in the heart of the Austrian capital as part of the “Zero Emission Transport” project of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce.

Pioneering work for climate protection

There are only a few fully electric car transporters in Europe - most of them are one-offs. This makes Hödlmayr's commitment all the more significant:

  • Almost 59 tons of CO₂ saved annually
  • 240 km range with a full load
  • Fast charging with at least 160 KW

The car transporter is based on a Mercedes E-Actros 300+ with a Kässbohrer trailer and is charged between work shifts or overnight. For CEO Johannes Hödlmayr, the project is a logical step:

"As an international logistics company, we have a responsibility for the future. The use of e-trucks is an important part of our sustainability strategy."

More than just a pilot project

Hödlmayr is already thinking ahead: two additional e-trucks are being planned, and up to 90 percent of the entire vehicle fleet is to be powered by renewable energy by 2040.

A central component of this strategy is the photovoltaic system with an output of 5.8 MWp, which is currently being installed on the carports at the Schwertberg site.

Zero Emission Transport - a common goal

The Vienna Chamber of Commerce's Zero Emission Transport project shows how companies can voluntarily take responsibility. 41 companies are already taking part - and Hödlmayr is proud to be one of the pioneers.

“Sustainability and profitability are not mutually exclusive, but are the basis for future-proof mobility,” emphasizes Johannes Hödlmayr.

With each further step, the company is getting closer to its goal: emission-free and sustainable logistics for the future.
