Hödlmayr invests in sustainable rail transport

| Logistics Solutions

The railway line from Barcelona (Spain) to Schwertberg (Austria) and vice versa has been part of the Hödlmayr logistics network since 2022. The company has scheduled one weekly train, but would like to increase the frequency to three to four trains per week. The vehicles are currently being consolidated at the UIC terminal in the port of Barcelona. In addition, Hödlmayr aims to develop rail connections directly from the plants in Spain.

Barcelona - Schwertberg: Hödlmayr makes further investments in sustainable rail transport

Rail transport solutions have been an essential part of Hödlmayr’s portfolio for over a decade. For its international customers, the company delivers vehicles by rail to Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Belgium, Austria, Romania, Italy and Spain. To this end, Hödlmayr works in close cooperation with the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group.

Liudmyla Tarasenko, Managing Director of Hödlmayr Rail Logistics GmbH, emphasises: “With the new transport connection from Spain to Austria, more than 2,100 tonnes of CO2 can be avoided per year compared to transport by truck. For Hödlmayr, further shifting our vehicle transports to rail is an essential part of achieving our goals within the framework of our sustainability strategy, some of which are even more ambitious than those of the EU.”
