3,888 solar panels will cover a total area of 10,000 m2 on the roofs of several Hödlmayr buildings. In the first expansion stage, the solar plant will generate 1,500 megawatt hours of green electricity per year. This is equivalent to the annual demand of about 460 households. By using solar energy, around 1,000 tonnes of CO2 can be saved annually.
“The focus of our corporate philosophy ‘Go green - go Hödlmayr’ is always the holistic approach. We are convinced that the optimum can be achieved only through a perfect interplay of various ecological, economic, and social measures. The new facility underlines this impressively; together, we can protect the environment, relieve the energy grid, and reduce electricity costs”, emphasises Andreas Sundl, Managing Director of Hödlmayr Logistics GmbH.
In addition to the photovoltaic system, the Hödlmayr Group has two hydroelectric power plants and 20 charging stations for electric cars at its Schwertberg site. The Belgian subsidiary in Tongeren has also already installed a solar system.
