Schwertberg, 2 November 2011. Hödlmayr has implemented a locomotive in the company’s corporate design for international rail transports. The “Bosporus Sprinter” is provided by the Vienna local railway company and operates between Romania, Hungary, Germany, Belgium and Austria.
For years Hödlmayr has been using train concepts, i. e. the railway transports vehicles – environmentally friendly over long distances – from the production plant to the distribution centers. Freight transport by rail brings substantial CO2 savings potential. One example: three trains per week operate between the Dacia plant in Pitesti /Romania and the Hödlmayr subsidiary HN Autotransport in Tongeren / Belgium, over 2000 kilometers away. This means a CO2 reduction of 11,400 tons in the next three years.
Commitment to the environment – 15.000 tons of CO2 less per year
Hödlmayr is among the pioneers of Austrian’s logisticians with regard to anchoring sustainability in the corporate philosophy. Johannes Hödlmayr, CEO of Hödlmayr International AG: ”Our corporate philosophy is Go green – this means to have economic success with ecological and social responsibility and so including the values environment, quality and sustainability.“ A modern fleet, logistic solutions from a combination of truck, rail and ship, up to date communication systems and strategic partnerships ensure an optimization of the traffic flows. Since 2008 drivers have been specifically trained for an ecologic and economic driving style. As a result CO2 emissions were reduced by approximately 3 percent. By environmental projects as part of the sustainable corporate philosophy Hödlmayr International has already reduced its CO2 emission by about 15,000 tons per year. For the future Johannes Hödlmayr is planning further initiatives in line with the “Go green” corporate philosophy.
