Johannes Hödlmayr, chairman of the board for Hödlmayr International AG, takes no stock in moaning about the development in the last few months: “There are many opportunities to save in times of an economic crisis and therefore also preserve the environment.” Due to an eco-training which the Hödlmayr group offers its drivers, the diesel usage in a year was successfully reduced by several 100,000 litres. The training also benefits the environment. Due to the reduced use of fuel, the Co2 emissions were also reduced by an average of around three percent, therefore around 1,600 tonnes. For more than 20 years Hödlmayr has been carrying out target orientated driver training. Since the beginning of 2008 the family-run company in Schwertberg has had a new focus – eco-training, which brings even better results for ecology and the economy. Two journeys – one of them before the theoretical input, and the other afterwards – show significant differences. Due to early gear changes, foresighted driving and avoiding abrupt breaking, each participant achieved a spirit saving of up to ten percent and at the same time behaved environmentally friendly. Because of its success Hödlmayr will continue to place emphasis on this training in the future.
