The project has been an outstanding success, especially in Belgium. Despite the crisis in the automobile industry, Hödlmayr also sees a lot of potential in the Austrian market.
In Belgium, the Vehicle Integration Programme, known as VIP for short, was a raving success last year. With a turnover of 2.5 million EUR in the first year, the product manager, Yves Smeets of Hödlmayr Belgium, appears to be happy with the concept. Smeets says, “With the implementation of VIP, we were able to reach new customers, thus improving our results.”
Through VIP, with which Hödlmayr scores well as a result of its core competence as a complete supplier of integrated services for the automobile industry, 4300 vehicles of various brands have been sold in Belgium. Smeets still sees big opportunities with other renowned car manufacturers. Smeets, who began his career with Hödlmayr in 2003, sees the potential for customer satisfaction in the company’s commitment and new ideas, “Only those who are at the forefront during changes are ensured of the loyalty of customers”.
Hödlmayr developed VIP due to the fact that 80 percent of new car buyers trade in their used vehicles in payment when signing the contract. The family-run business Hödlmayr uses all its knowledge to make the vehicles ready for resale on behalf of its customers.
The programme predominantly helps operators of vehicle fleets, such as leasing companies, importers and insurance companies, recycle returned or exchanged vehicles. Independent experts assess the damage and defects while Hödlmayr experts rectify these problems. The repairs are subject to quality standards and increase the resale value of the vehicles for the contracting body.
HÖDLMAYR INTERNATIONAL AG and its subsidiaries in twelve countries employ more than 1,400 employees and have over 700 special vehicle transporters. Last year, HÖDLMAYR INTERNATIONAL AG achieved an annual turnover of 168 million EUR. In total, HÖDLMAYR INTERNATIONAL AG provides more than one million vehicles every year. Hödlmayr works as the releasing agent (take-over carrier, who is also responsible for all the quality checks on the new vehicles) in six car factories throughout the world. As the releasing agent, Hödlmayr processes about 900,000 new vehicles each year.
