Due to its large network in several countries, Hödlmayr International AG (HIAG) and its daughter subsidiaries are able to guarantee an optimal and efficient logistics chain from Romania to Belgium, Luxemburg and France. This infrastructure permitted Hödlmayr to receive this major contract from the Romanian vehicle producer Dacia. 56.000 vehicles are being transported and distributed in seven countries, mainly to Austria, Belgium, Luxemburg, France North (Lille and Nancy areas), Serbia, Montenegro as well as vehicles for the French Overseas countries via the Ports of Antwerp, Zeebrugge and Amsterdam.
Transport by Rail
Partners of the Project are the French Company Touax, the Hungarian Logistics Specialist Raabersped, part of the Rail Cargo Austria Group as well as the Austrian Specialist Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo GmbH. 27.000 vehicles will be transported by train. In the process of the implementation of the contract, 3 trains will be shuttling between Romania and the Hödlmayr daughter HN Autotransport located in the Belgian city of Tongeren, where the vehicles will then be transported by truck to the dealers in Belgium, Luxemburg and France. Due to the shifting away of a substantial part from the road to rail, the round trip lead time was reduced significantly and the burden to the environment was reduced by 100 trucks weekly. As such, Hödlmayr again takes measures to support the environment. „According to the latest calculations, the train transports from the Romanian subsidiary of Pitesti to Tongeren means a reduction of 11.100 Tons CO2, which is equivalent to 11,7 Million Truck-Streetkilometers.“, explains Johannes Hödlmayr, Member of the Board and Press Speaker of HIAG.
