Hödlmayr removed the consequences of the catastrophic floods of 2002 by officially opening its new production plant “Areal West”.
All together the Schwertberg logistics company has invested 16.7 million Euros including flood protection.
Hödlmayr opened its new production plant "Areal West" at the Schwertberg location on Friday, the 26th September. Thereby, they finally overcame the problems caused by the catastrophic flooding in 2002, which paralysed the company on two separate occasions, causing damage of several hundred million Euros.
In building new production halls and preparation areas – where new cars are made ready for delivery to customers by removing the paraffin layer, which protects the paint finish, Hödlmayr has invested a total of 15.2 million Euros. A further 1.5 million will be used for construction measures to provide additional protection from flooding. A 4.3 km long floodwall has just been erected amongst other measures. With this new plant Hödlmayr is running the most modern goods distribution centre in Europe.
Hödlmayr is not just market leader for vehicle logistics and vehicle transportation, but also offers numerous services to the car trade, such as fitting accessories (air-conditioning, auxiliary heating systems etc), special repairs for damage caused by hail (fix&save), production of refrigerated vehicles. towing vehicles and lots more besides.
HÖDLMAYR INTERNATIONAL AG aimed in 2002 to have a consolidated turnover of 165 million Euro, the company presently employs around 1,600 employees and has over 500 special vehicle transporters of its own. Hödlmayr delivered more than one million vehicles in 2002. Hödlmayr is taking over the transport department of the car manufacturer Zastava.
