The HÖDLMAYR INTERNATIONAL AG automobile logistics company is now present in Serbia with its own subsidiary, having acquired a majority holding in the transportation division of the car manufacturer Zastava.
As part of its expansion into south-eastern Europe, HÖDLMAYR INTERNATIONAL AG is now also present in Serbia with its own subsidiary, having acquired 80 percent of the transportation division of the Serbian car manufacturer Zastava. 20 percent of the new company, Hödlmayr Zastava d.o.o., is to be retained by the Zastava staff. The new Hödlmayr subsidiary in Serbia employs a workforce of 127.
The Zastava transport company having been demerged from the manufacturing plant, which currently produces around 20,000 cars a year, mainly for the Serbian market, a new company, Hödlmayr-Zastava d.o.o., has been founded with headquarters directly on the Zastava site at Kragujevac, 120 km south of Belgrade.
The transaction in Serbia is an asset deal, with Hödlmayr contributing its know-how and a new vehicle fleet. In addition, the new company will be integrated into the HÖDLMAYR INTERNATIONAL AG international network. Zastava provides the staff and a part of the infrastructure (essentially buildings and company site). The new company has taken over 127 employees from the former Zastava transport division.
To begin with, Hödlmayr will provide the new Serbian company with 30 road trains (20 special vehicle transporters and 10 covered trucks, mainly for use in international traffic. The final target is for 50 to 60 road trains. Consequently, the new company will not be restricted to vehicle transports, but is to act as contact partner for all kinds of logistics solutions for Serbia.
In addition, Hödlmayr is to make huge investments in the training of its Serbian employees, who hitherto have worked without any computer assistance and with only minimum knowledge of foreign languages. Ultimately, Hödlmayr-Zastava d.o.o. is to be brought up to the Hödlmayr Group's high standards.
Incidentally, a US investor has been found for the Zastava automobile plant, the business has been sold and the search is now on for a manufacturer to act as partner. Until now, Peugeot engines have been imported and used by Zastava.
