Multimodal traffic by means of bundling via hubs
Since September 2007, the “Hödlmayr multimodal train” – a combination of double-decker and flat cars – has shifted the transport of a larger part of the new vehicles that were transported by truck up to then to rail transport. Pick-up/Distribution has been realised by truck, long-distance haul by rail.
Facts:
- over 160 complete trains handled - 6,500 new vehicles transported - 2,000 truck rides less - 1,515 tons of CO2 saved

In 2008, the Hödi Kombizug applied for the Marco Polo 2008 Call for Proposals and has been successfully evaluated and granted.
